Matthew Sweet — “Girlfriend” 🎵 “Sick of Myself” 🎶

Athens, Georgia is home to the University of Georgia… Go Dawgs! 🐾 — and it’s also one of the great music cities in America, birthing many iconic bands like R.E.M., The B-52’s, and Widespread Panic, just to name a few.. And this next guy… Matthew Sweet.

Matthew Sweet is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who became a key figure in ’90s alternative rock and power pop. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he moved to Athens, Georgia to plug into that legendary scene before breaking through with Girlfriend (1991) — hooky, heartfelt guitar pop — and following it with 100% Fun (1995), featuring the self-aware anthem “Sick of Myself.” Classic melodies, honest emotion, zero filler.

I stumbled upon Jenn’s YouTube years ago.. and I loved.. used to watch and listen all the time.. but then I simply forgot about her.. for years.. and today.. she just popped up on my recommendations.. and I was like.. oh wow.. can’t believe I forgot her.. 😁.. she and I like the same music and her style and sound is like mine.. she’s like the female version of me.. 😁.. hope you enjoy.. I will probably share her once in awhile with you… (I’d love to play with her and like sing together on a lot of these covers she does.. I think it would be awesome… especially on all the Social Distortion songs she does.. cuz they are my favorite and i do all their stuff…i also think our voices would sound good together… many times i sing harmony with her while im listening.. and we just gel…)

Hey yall.. so this is Our Lady Peace.. some of you older folks are probably familiar with them.. they are Canadian.. but we still love them.. they formed in 1992.. they are a favorite of mine.. and so many great songs.. I have two for you now.. “innocent” was released in 2oO2 on the album Gravity.. and the other is “Starseed” from their 1994 debut album.. Naveed.. I also found a cool as heck.. Beavis and Butthead video gem.. with the song Starseed in it.. haha.. made me laugh.. hope yall enjoy.. thinking of you today… `.°~

👇 this song hits differently once you know the meaning of it.. what “Starseed” actually is.. or the actual meaning of it in this song.. I relate to it.. in that I’m like a Christian Starseed.. 😁 not a new age one… you should probably do some googling now haha…..

My Mother’s Tears

The Eagles – Desperado 🎶 1973

So music means so much to me.. as you’re probably starting to see.. so I heard this song earlier.. and it brought back memories.. i once walked in on my mother.. she was alone and crying.. listening to this song.. turns out this one is special to her.. because it reminds her of me.. it’s the one song she has attached to me.. and I just noticed today.. that it was released the year I was born.. 1973.. something I’ve never noticed… all these years…

Two times in my life.. I’ve caught my mother crying to music.. here are both those songs…
