🎙️Story & Songs
I’ve been a believer for a very long time, since I was a child in the early 1980s. I’ve always believed. No one had to teach me or convince me of God’s existence. I have been in conversation with Him since I was a little boy. Since I can remember. He reached out to me first. He’s my Daddy.
As a child, I had a close relationship with Him, and later my mother and father got saved and started going to church. They are both Southern Baptists. My family is set in their beliefs. Let me tell you. They think the Baptist way is the only way Jose.
I was raised up with these same denominational-type beliefs. Then, in 2oO8, I got involved with a Pentecostal charismatic ministry that was connected to many other churches and denominations, and I ended up working closely with them. It was so eye-opening for me, and through this, I was exposed to different beliefs and positions. And I really started taking a super close look at, “What are the real truths? What do I believe, and why do I believe it?” This is when I really started down the theology road.
All this was a blessing and helped me discover the truth in Scripture because it’s amazing to me how people can read the same things but come away with different underlying truths and meanings.
One thing I have learned and know with certainty is that we all believe things that aren’t true. Me, you, your parents, your spouse, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, your pastor, your priest, Father Whats-His-Face, your church, your denomination—we all believe certain things that are not accurate. Far off even.
Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, agnostics, those who just don’t care, etc. All believe things that aren’t true. And here’s the kicker: truth is truth whether we believe it or not, and a lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.
And a second kick would be that most of us don’t realize that we are believing these untrue things. I mean, how could we? We are so zealous and passionate. We think we are right. We feel so strongly about them. We even think it’s from God, that He, the Holy Spirit, is confirming our beliefs in us. Or it’s traditional things handed down from long ago that have created strongholds in our heads that we just don’t question. Maybe it’s our culture, how we were taught and brought up.
Regardless. It is what it is. The best thing we can do is realize this and understand that it applies to us all, and then try and go from there.
And that brings me to something else that’s been on my heart for a few years, actually, and something I notice more and more these days.
First, let me say I have some wonderful Christian friends. I have some wonderful friends who don’t believe in God. And some who are in between. They all are extraordinary people, and I’m so blessed to know them and call them my friends. And what I’m about to say is not an attack at anyone, just an observation. And I’m connected to some great churches and groups through my ministry, bryanforchrist. Just great people all around me.
So there’s something I’ve noticed on online Christian platforms. And in real life, too. But it’s like many are so super spiritual these days that they are no earthly good. It’s like they are walking around with Jerusalem syndrome or something and the personality of a tennis ball. It’s even hard to have normal conversations with them. Everything becomes so serious. A huge, dramatic spiritual dilemma. And I get it. I know our battle is a spiritual one. But still.
And you may be thinking, “Well, everything is so serious, brother Bryan!” And you would be right, Pastor Wally. But it can still be serious without being so serious all the time. 😎
And some are ready to speak into your life with a message. One from God. To you.
I can give you many examples, but just recently, someone on another platform sent me this long message telling me what I should do in my life and that it wasn’t them speaking, but that it was a God thing.
That’s great and all, and I really appreciate the heart behind it. But see, here’s the thing: the Lord already told me what to do, lol, and it wasn’t what you said. So maybe that wasn’t God speaking to you. Just sayin’. 🤷♂️
Oh, and before I forget… that same Pharisaic religious spirit that was alive and well in Christ’s day is going just as strong today, and it can take hold of believers without them even knowing. If you crack the door for it, it will wiggle its foot in on ya.
I’m just ranting a bit now, but yeah, I don’t want to be associated with this kind of thing, and I keep it out of my inner circle, but I pray for them wholeheartedly. Things aren’t always on point. I understand this. I know life can sometimes find us naked, tiptoeing through a minefield of sleeping, rabid porcupines. 🦔
Even spiritual ones. 😳
So anyways, I’m not trying to make a big deal about any of this. I’m just at a place today where I’m not falling in line with the culture I’m seeing. I used to, though. But now I’m a rogue. It’s just things I notice. And people are people; we are all different, of course. I get it. Just go be different over there, and I’ll hang out here, play my guitar, sing some songs, say some things, and laugh a little or even alot when I can, lol.
🙏🕊😎✝️🙌 GO TEAM JESUS! HALLELUJAH! AMEN!
