Yes, back in the day here in San Diego, it was 91X that was the first station to play them.
Alt 94.9 came about after the millennium. But was started by some of the original 91X DJ’s that were upset with 91X being bought by a radio conglomerate.
Steve West was a long standing figure in Alternative music in SD.
Sadly , he passed during Covid. But Alt 949 continues his legacy every Sunday morning.
My wife and I just tell Alexa to ,’play Alt 949′.

Oh no I’m not in a tribute band.. I just play all their songs on my guitar.. for an audience of one… me… 😁… but I’ve been in bands in the past… and we did a lot of their songs.. that’s cool about Steve… sorry to hear he’s gone.. I’ll do my best to catch the show… I hope it works out.. there’s a chance I may be busy at the time… ty again…
