What’s up yall… just want to say thank you… truly…
I appreciate your faithfulness and the support… always checkin’ my stuff out…

Matthew West is up again this week…
figured I’d dig a little deeper this time… pull out a couple real hidden gems…

I think he’s got a lot of ‘em… you just gotta go lookin’…
especially those early records… man, I really enjoy those…

Seems like most folks go straight to the radio hits…
and I get it… they’re hits for a reason… they’re great songs… I like ‘em too…

…but honestly…
it’s the lesser-known ones that hit me the hardest…
the ones tucked away a little…
those are the ones I keep comin’ back to…

Something to Say… 🎶 Out of My Hands

Hey yall… Happy Sunday…
more from Matthew West today…

Back in 2oO7…
while working on Something to Say…

Matthew literally had nothing to say…

Doctors found a polyp on his vocal cord—
it hemorrhaged…

surgery… right in the middle of the record…

and for a while—
he didn’t know if he’d ever sing again…
let alone finish it.

After the surgery…
he couldn’t talk for months…
couldn’t sing…

but he couldn’t be silenced.

He came back… strong—
and he’s still going today…
stronger than ever.

I’ve got two great ones for you this day…

Matthew West’s one of those artists where it just feels real. A lot of his songs are pulled from real-life stories—people writing in, sharing what they’ve been through—and he turns that into something honest. He’s been through it himself too… even lost his voice for a season and had to fight his way back. He’s also written for artists like Casting Crowns, Rascal Flatts, and Mandisa—which says a lot about how strong his writing really is. You can hear it in his own music—nothing forced, nothing fake… just faith, struggle, and redemption showing up in the songs.

Only Grace 🎶 Next Thing You Know

Happy Resurrection Day! ✝️

So today I’m starting a new one on Matthew West… I’m a huge fan—especially his earlier stuff. So many songs just put together right… lyrically and musically. His first 3–4 albums are that good.

I saw him live back around 2o08 or ’o9—not exactly sure. It was a wild setup… out in the middle of nowhere… big open field on what felt like someone’s farm in Brooksville, Florida. But man—it was a sweet performance. He’s great live. There were other artists too… might’ve been a 3-day thing—I only went one day… memory’s a little foggy there 😁

Also Matthew is supposedly a super nice dude from what I hear… really loves people and his fans…

Anyway—these two songs are from his second album History (2o05)… super good. Check it out sometime…

Fifty Years of Sleep Fighting… 🏃🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪

Since I was a little boy—with flaming red hair—a face full of freckles—I have always been a dreamer…
As life’s bullet train has sped through my night… my freckles have faded… blended…
my hair has darkened from that fiery red—to something older…
But my dreams…
They have never faded…
They are still alive…

Sleep is not rest for me—
It is assignment…
It is battlefield…
When I close my eyes at night—
I am not drifting off…
I am clocking in…
For a fight…

Since childhood—storms call my name…
Not gently…
But roaring… spinning…
Tearing open my sky…
Hurricanes… tornadoes…
I have stood in both—right in the heart of them—more than once…
