Canary Yellow Night

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Sittin’ beside my one-of-a-kind wife
in a Canary Yellow 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle—
at a drive-in…

eatin’ popcorn…
watchin’ Creature From The Black Lagoon…

hopefully it’s in effin’ color…
—or close enough.

but I’m goin’ to be too busy stealin’ kisses…
watchin’ the movie flicker in her eyes.

  1. That’s cool.

The number ten – 10 – is the completeness of the flesh or human.

The screen’s emerald glow masks the taste of salt and stolen breath, a flickering apparition of the man you will become already haunting the man you are.

      1. Brother Loia, thank you for asking.

Whereat we do not doll up in barring it all, we do light up and hope on.

Though the airless, searing press of hidden battles stifles all breath, we zipper the pain, smiling through the smoke with a quiet, burning hope.

Wish you all well in all things.

      2. In the suffocating, silent pressure of unseen, relentless struggles — where exhausting, high-stakes and often misunderstood efforts are mistaken for idle ease — we mask the burning, agonising pain with a stoic smile and a flickering hope, choosing to quietly bear the unbearable weight, for it is well.

        All the best to all.

      3. Amen brother… I’m choosing to cast all things heavy today on the one who can handle the weight… the great burden bearer… the one who cares for me. t
