🎧 Covers from Sister Hazel and Tonic
When I was a teenager, playing and singing, I would go for hours and hours alone in my room. I was passionate about it, and it brought me so much joy, peace, and healing.
Then I got older, and drugs and alcohol entered the picture. And people. Things changed.
Then, I kind of forgot about secular music for a while and had my Christian music ministry. Toward the end of that, I just felt burned out and dealing with these ongoing heavy things, it made me lose the fire.
So I quit playing for a handful of years and wasn’t sure I’d ever play again.
Well, I started playing again this year, as some of you know, and it’s just been amazing for me.
I feel like that kid again.

Here’s 2 songs that are the epitome of great hidden B-side gems. I just recorded these tonight, a few hours ago.
Wanted It To Be by Sister Hazel — 1996
Knock Down Walls by Tonic — 1999
Hope yall enjoy.
Thanks for listening.

Sweet! I’m glad you like it. Their version is way better than mine. It has all the cool guitar solos. Ryan Newell, the lead guitar from Sister Hazel, he’s badass! He’s one of my favorite guitarist.

I added a few things to the lyrics in the moment “I should have used restraint” and “I think I’m doing ok” those aren’t in the original song

Let me start off by saying CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎊🎈 for finding that fire 🔥. Good for you. I have never heard any of those songs before but you made them sound great. I was especially fond of the first one, “Wanted it to be”
Thank you for sharing your talent with us. It was an honor.

Well, it’s great you got that fire back. I don’t play but I LOVE music 🎼 and I can’t ever imagine not wanting to listen to it anymore. So, I’m excited for you.
I’m a new follower so quick question, did you play professionally?

Thank you very much. I can’t imagine not wanting to listen either. No, I wouldn’t say I was a professional musician. I had some paid gigs over the years, was part of a group of musicians from around the world, and was in a Christian band for a while. Much of that wasn’t paid. I also had a traveling music ministry where I donated my services and was a worship leader for a church/ministry for a handful of years. Through the majority of this, I also had another full-time job. I guess you could say I performed professionally at times. I was kind of a working musician. 😁

Even better. You played for the Glory of God and that is so much more impressive 😉.
You play wonderfully, that’s why I was asking. I appreciate your reply.
I love reading everyone’s stories, you are all great writers with such great stories.
