Casting Crowns is one of the most famous and widely recognized contemporary Christian groups in history.

Mark Hall is the lead singer, and he lives here in my town. He’s also a youth pastor at a church down the road from me.

My nephew was in his youth group back in the day and has been to his house a few times. My mother knows him too. I’ve never met him, though. I was living in Florida around the time all this was going on.

This one feels special to me.

I just have so much going on in my life currently. My mother is sick and in the hospital, and my girlfriend is recovering from an accident that should have killed her. It’s a miracle she’s still alive.

It’s a miracle I’m still alive too, and I’ve been holding on to a promise from God for twenty years now. Ever since I was 33 years old.

And now is this time, and this is the season.

🎙️Sunday Songs From the Bathroom #32

🎧 Two Kutless Covers

If you ever watched the old TV show Scrubs back in the day, then you may recall all the great music from it. It’s actually cited as having one of the best soundtracks of any show in history, and it was a big deal if your song was chosen and featured on an episode.

It was also a secular program, and very few Christian artists and songs ever made it on there. The song “All Of the Words” by Kutless made it on in 2oO6, exposing their music to millions. It was a huge deal for the band.

Also, if you’ve ever noticed my tagline on my blog…

“so looking to the sky ¡ will sing and from my heart to YOU ¡ bring”

…well, it’s from the lyrics of that song.

My dad once told me a story years ago about a strange man who approached him in a truck stop parking lot.

He said he was getting out of his truck and suddenly there was a man right there in front of him. He thought the guy was about to rob him, but instead, he gets right up in my dad’s face and says, “You’re going to see a miracle in your family.”

Then the guy turns and walks away.

My dad said that he looked away for a second and then looked back up, and the guy was gone. Just disappeared.

My dad thinks it was an angel, and he thinks the miracle is meant for me.

I could really use one right now.

🎙️Sunday Songs From the Bathroom #11

🎧 Covers from Lauren Daigle • Tenth Avenue North

I woke this morning with the blues… the Sunday blues, to be more exact.

I was reminded of Kris Kristofferson’s “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” and for a moment I could feel myself walking that lonely sidewalk. I could almost smell the fried chicken.

Then my heart turned to others.

So I decided to forget myself, pray for those whose blue is a much darker shade than my own… and maybe even try on their shoes for a little while in my head.

So about these songs…

For the Lauren Daigle song “Still Rolling Stones,” I decided to amp it up a bit with the guitar lick. This is the first time I’ve ever tried to play it, and I just thought I’d do it a little differently.

And “Worn” by Tenth Avenue North was actually the very first song from the bathroom that I ever posted. I hid it inside another post though, so it was easy to miss. I thought I’d share it again.
