My Pastor Walks 9 Miles… So They Don’t Walk Alone ✝️

To and from his church—every day.

I met a man about a year ago…

He’s become a great friend to me.
Not just a friend now…
he’s also my Pastor.

His name is Pastor Bogere—
and he leads Walusubi United Church of Jesus Christ
in Mukono, Uganda.

I’m a member there as well…

And I can tell you this—

he’s the real deal.

We talk every day…

He checks on me…
prays for me…
sends me messages and sermons…

Even with everything he carries—
he still makes time for people.

That tells you everything.

But here’s what’s on his shoulders…

There are a lot of children in his community with nothing—
no parents…
no support…
no one to care for them…

So he stepped in.

Him and his wife already have two children of their own…

…but they’ve taken in more.

Children with nowhere to go.

Now he’s not just a pastor—
he’s a father to them too.

And here’s something that really hit me…

His church is about 9 miles from his home…

And he walks.

Every day…

there and back.

No transportation—

just faith… and commitment.

And it doesn’t stop there…

The church is growing…

The need is growing…

And he’s started building something bigger—
a Christian school and safe place for these kids.

Right now…

there are 10 children depending on him.

The Reality

It costs about $400/month
to keep everything going.

Food
School
Shelter
Basic care

That’s it…

No luxury…
just survival… and love.

That’s about $13 a day
to keep these kids fed, safe, and learning.

One of the Kids

Her name is Jovita Bulungi.

She lost both of her parents in 2019…

Now she’s in Primary 3 (about 3rd grade)
and leads the children’s choir.

She’s strong… wise… and full of light.

Your support helps write more stories like hers.

Why I’m Sharing This

Because I see it firsthand…

This isn’t something I read about—
it’s something I know.

This is a man
living it.
Every day.

I know people can be cautious when it comes to giving online—
and rightfully so.

That’s why I’ve taken time to build a real relationship with him…
we talk every day…
and I personally support this ministry.

This is real.

I’ve been supporting him monthly…
but he needs more than just me.
That’s why I’m sharing this.

If You Feel Led

If you… or your church…
would like to support this ministry—

even a little goes a long way.

$40 → feeds 3 children for a week
$100 → covers school needs
$400 → sustains everything for a month

for others.

Some Men Say It… Some Men Live It

Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

This is Pastor Wendell Wilson…
he discipled me.

I met him in June of 2o08…
and ended up living with him for about five years.

He ran a Christian rehab for men down in Florida…
and after I finished the program…
he asked me to stay on…

become his resident director.

So I did.

I served there for four years…

and somewhere in all that time…
he became more than a pastor to me…

he became a father.

He was one of a kind…
a remarkable man.

I could tell you story after great story…
so many memories…

but what stands out most…

is how he lived…

How he loved people…

I’ve never met anyone who genuinely loved others like he did…

And the way he spoke to you…

man… he had a way with words. He backed them up too.

He would say things to you…
right in the moment…
exactly when you needed to hear it most.

One profound thing he told me that never left…

“Son… people would rather see a sermon any day… than hear one.”

That stuck like Chuck with me.

I still carry it.

Because as powerful as words can be…
they don’t mean much without something behind them.

I can say the most beautiful things…
turn your stupid heart to jello…

but at some point…

I need to shut my mouth…
and be about it.

Show you.

Let you see it.

Because I’d rather see something real…
than hear something perfect.

No matter how well penned it is…
it’s empty…
it has to be lived…
it’s just beautifully nothing…

I’d rather see things clearly…
and say things simply…

let action… with feeling… be the real pen…

Pastor Wendell passed away at his home in 2o16…
surrounded by friends and family…

and it was beautifully real… to see.
