🎧 Two Elton John Covers
You can teach someone to play an instrument or they can teach themselves and if the talent is there then they can become quite good depending on what they are willing to give to it.
But you can’t teach heart.
All you can do is tell them about it and it’s something they have to find inside themselves.
It’s a pouring out of yourself to the listener.
I’m not saying I have it but it’s what you want.

He said, “Drifter, can you make folks cry when you play and sing? Have you paid your dues? Can you moan the blues? Can you bend them guitar strings?” He said, “Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside? ‘Cause if you’re big star bound, let me warn ya, it’s a long, hard ride”

Love both of these. I’d vote for Elton John pieces every day if I could! He’s brilliant. Great job!
That picture of the flag…that is beautiful. Very spirit of America to me! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks, yeah he’s for sure brilliant and him and Bernie are such a great team.
Yeah I love the flag too. I just came across it for the first time last night. I was searching civil war art and found it. Thanks again.
Two great choices as always!!!! Tiny Dancer has always been a favorite.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I almost went with Honky Cat instead of Tiny Dancer but literally changed my mind last minute because I know how many people love it lol
Keep it in mind for the next Elton John session. It’s a good one.
I definitely will. Thanks 😎
Technique can be taught, discipline can be cultivated, and talent can be sharpened but the heart cannot be manufactured. True music begins where technique ends: in that unguarded place within us where feeling becomes sound and sound becomes truth. When an artist pours the self into a song, the listener does not merely hear the music; they encounter something human and real. That is the difference between playing a song and making someone feel it. 🙏
Very well said Vijay and so so true. Thank you.
Love, love, love Elton. Saw him live on his farewell tour at MetLife Stadium. Love these rendtions, my friend. Great job!
Thanks Tristan. Wow that’s awesome to have seen him in the farewell tour. He used to live here in Atlanta for over 30 years but he sold his condo here in 2o23 from what I’ve heard and moved back to England
Elton John’s shoes are tough to fill—I think you did a wonderful job. I love the heart you put into singing and playing these songs. I could tell you love music, particularly every artist does, right? But not every artist can get lost in the music, and you sound like the type of person who loves to play with an intense passion and feels every note from the depths of your heart. ❤️
Thank you for sharing it really means a lot
Thank you so much for your kind words and for listening. His shoes are tough to fill for sure, so you have to give it your all when you try. Thank you again 😎
You did a fantastic job. I never heard those songs by him before but bcuz you did a wonderful job I’m going to look them up 😉
Oh wow that’s cool. I’m glad I could help. He has so many great songs that are kind of hidden. You have to dig for them. Have fun on your journey 😁
My daughter, when she was younger she used to watch a movie called “gnomeo and Juliet” (gnome version of Romeo and Juliet), the soundtrack is Elton John and she loved all the songs. As a teenager it was “27 dresses” and Benny and the jets by Sir Elton John. She sang that one for a week 😂
Ah that’s a great story. Those are great songs, I’ll have to check that soundtrack out. He lived about 30 minutes from me in Atlanta for over 30 years. He sold his condo here in 2o23 from what I’ve heard and moved back to his homeland in England.
Really? What a small world, right?
It’s a small world indeed
That’s nothing compared to your stories, 🤦♀️. I just read the one about the preacher’s wife—omg! It’s funnier than the burrito one!
Ah thank you… I’m so glad you like them and they make you laugh. If someone told me many years ago that one day I’d have a blog and would be writing these stories to share with others I would have thought they were nuts! 😁
You can’t teach heart” really resonated with me. It’s true for so many things beyond music, isn’t it? That deep, internal spark is something you have to cultivate yourself.
I enjoyed the mention of “Tiny Dancer” and “My Father’s Gun.” Elton John has a way of pouring out his feelings, and that’s what makes his music so enduring. It reminds me that the genuine feeling you bring to anything, whether it’s playing an instrument or just living your life, is what truly connects with others. It’s not about grand gestures, but about that authentic inner spirit.
Thank you friend. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
You’re very welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed my comment. Your post really resonated with me because it beautifully captured how genuine feeling elevates music and life. It’s that authentic spirit that makes a piece truly enduring, and I always appreciate when that comes through so clearly.
