🎙️Sunday Songs From the Bathroom #15 e̷d̷i̷t̷e̷d̷

A Shane & Shane Cover 🎧

My best friend once told me a story that has stuck with me.

His grandfather’s ship was destroyed and sunk by a Japanese torpedo during World War II. He was stranded at sea for four days, clinging to a piece of debris while his friends died around him. Some drowned. Others were eaten by sharks.

His grandfather had never been much of a praying man. Until that day.

He told God that if He would save him, he would commit the rest of his life to serving Him.

God saved him.

And the man kept his word.

He became a pastor and eventually founded a church. He served faithfully for years and years, giving of himself to others. He was a great man, and everyone thought highly of him. He walked the talk well into his old age.

Then one day, he was found dead in his study from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No one knows why. No one knows what happened. He left no note.

Tonight, I found myself thinking about him and about all the times I’ve been in desperate situations and needed God. How He’s always helped me.

I thought about the second attempt on my life, when it was about to be over. The men around me had murder on their minds, and there was very little I could do.

So I prayed silently.

And in that moment, I felt the Lord beside me in a tangible way.

I knew I wasn’t alone.

I knew everything was going to be okay.

I don’t know what happened with my friend’s grandfather late in his life.

But I do know this

God has been there in my darkest moments.

And when I had nothing left

I had Him.

Here’s a Shane & Shane song I recorded a few months ago. I hope you enjoy.

Thank you for listening.

🎙️Sunday Songs From the Bathroom #11

🎧 Covers from Lauren Daigle • Tenth Avenue North

I woke this morning with the blues… the Sunday blues, to be more exact.

I was reminded of Kris Kristofferson’s “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” and for a moment I could feel myself walking that lonely sidewalk. I could almost smell the fried chicken.

Then my heart turned to others.

So I decided to forget myself, pray for those whose blue is a much darker shade than my own… and maybe even try on their shoes for a little while in my head.

So about these songs…

For the Lauren Daigle song “Still Rolling Stones,” I decided to amp it up a bit with the guitar lick. This is the first time I’ve ever tried to play it, and I just thought I’d do it a little differently.

And “Worn” by Tenth Avenue North was actually the very first song from the bathroom that I ever posted. I hid it inside another post though, so it was easy to miss. I thought I’d share it again.

Hope yall have a blessed day.

🎧 Victory in Jesus • When God Ran

Back in 2o18, I was involved in music ministry, and one Sunday I wasn’t feeling well. I was supposed to lead worship that evening at a men’s service for my good friend, Pastor Cecil Johnson.

Pastor Cecil had a message to bring, and he needed me there… so much so that he came in my room while I was sleeping, woke me up, told me he needed me to get up and come sing Victory in Jesus… 😄😁

Cecil was a great man of God. Sadly, he passed away a year later after a long battle with cancer.

There is a movie about his life called No Vacancy, starring Sean Young 🦸‍♂️ Dean Cain, and T.C. Stallings from War Room plays Pastor Cecil. It’s a really good movie, and I believe it will bless you. I encourage you to check it out.

Two Cover Songs From Sidewalk Prophets

One of the things I’ll never forget about an old friend of mine was the way he’d greet me.

He’d smile and ask,

“What’s really going on?”

Not, “How are you?”… but, “What’s really going on?”

It’s been about 20 years since I last saw him, but today I found myself thinking about those words again. Such a simple question… yet so profound.

Now, let’s get into the music.

To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without blemish and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Two Covers From Shane & Shane

So whether you believe in God or not… how many of you are going through something today? ✋️

I know I am. Sheeesh… probably the most critical season of my life right now. But I’m staying strong 💪 and trusting in the One who’s brought me this far. 😎

Here are two great songs from Shane & Shane that I recorded about a month ago. I hope you enjoy.

Beg

Yearn

Psalm 143:9–12 (My Version)

Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies… I flee unto Thee for refuge to hide me. Teach me to do Thy will, for Thou art my God, Thy Spirit is good. Lead me into the land of uprightness onto level ground because of mine enemies. Quicken me, O Lord, for Jesus Christ’s namesake. Preserve my life. In Thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble. In Thy steadfast love cut off mine enemies and destroy all them that afflict my soul. For I am Thy servant, Thy friend, Thy child.
