(Social Distortion Notes)…from the song ‘Still Alive’…’

“Still Alive… (Social Distortion Notes)”
by Loia…💥🏳

Fire ’n smoke… no— not choke…still alive…
Rusted… and bruised… still refuse…
Asphalt… and dust— God’s in the gutter…
Life’s a must… still got fight…

Dark night… alive— barely… and beautifully…
Here to make… a stand—
On the tips… of my toes…
With a bible… and a guitar— in my hand…
Still alive…

Author’s Note:
Born from a few rough notes… after hearing “Still Alive” by Social Distortion—
this piece rose from the grit… and echo… of that song.
Not a cover—just a heartbeat… faith flickering through the dust…
still alive.

Power of silence (rest’s   ellipsis…em dash–)

((Something powerful occurred to me today))

So when I was younger and learning to read sheet music..I was in 7th grade I think…my chorus teacher Mrs.Mudd…she told me that the most powerful symbol in music…is the REST…showing a pause in the lyrics…when nothing is being sung…(as much is sung in the silence of the rest as the lyrics themselves)

And now that I’m writing…I’m finding the same exact thing…with the ELLIPSIS… and EM DASH–…these are symbols to indicate silence and pause in poetry…they are what brings the power and meaning and impact to the words and feelings…and again…(as much…if not more is being said when nothing is being said)

It occurred to me…that the same is with GOD…when HE is SILENT…HE is actually answering..and saying just as much if not more……….

“”In the picture is the symbols for rest…pause…silence–…””…”

Weeping World Day!…a day for sad people…

Invent a holiday! Explain how and why everyone should celebrate.

‘So yeah..we could have a day for sad people..for those that are lonely and hurting..like a day of sorrow..a gathering for the broken..also everyone could reach out to strangers on this day..if only just to give ears..we can make it a pleasant day..we won’t flee sadness..we will choose to honor it..our pain and sorrow is no curse..but like a lantern in disguise..revealing what is really going on..taking place..under the surface..love is hiding here and working in us..it can be a day of recognizing and learning to embrace our sufferings..because these are a blessing in disguise..they shape and mold us into who we are..they build our character..we need suffering..it’s vital with us..it’s a must…….we gotta learn to handle it..appreciate it..capture it……learn to love it…..So yeah..on this day we should all cry together.. try to end with laughter..if we can..a day of sharing and reaching for people we don’t know..so that we might know them…a day that promotes and encourages inviting others to our island.. holiday4everyday…””(share your coconuts)

Bad Taste

by Loia🏳

I sprayed a man… without a face—
I sprayed him… with my can of mace—
Unfortunately… seems it went to waste—
Fortunately— I left him… with a real bad taste…

NOT SHORT BUT NOT TOO LONG…THEY SAY ITS A POEM…

“Tho Still—not Too Late—…”
by Loia

Tryin’ to get in
  where I fit in…

Found I no place
  to sit in.

Should’ve been here—
  not to begin with.

Tho a musical chair…?
  Shiny with flair…?

O yes, for me!
  O wait—no…

Specially fits all y’all
  who dare…

Let the spin begin…

Clinched fist
  to y’all, men…

Southern by grace—
  So little thy faith…
  Then times—it’s just taste…

Beat death
  from this place…

O now—
  no—not one.
Nor friend, nor face…

Eyed one man
  when start of race…
Tho none see now…

O perhaps—
  Should’ve loved last place…

O perhaps—
  should’ve chose stealth—
  thine pace…

O perhaps should’ve just loved—…

  Tho still—not too late—…
