🎧 Covers From Cake & Damn Yankees
Years ago, I was at a bar in Dallas Texas called The Quarter, hanging out with my famous friend and listening to this local band play.
They were right in the middle of their finale, “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, and everyone in the place was singing along.
The band had an empty goldfish bowl sitting on the front of the stage for tips. Earlier, the singer had mentioned that he wished he had a cigarette.
So I was sitting about 20 feet away from the front of the stage, and I had a few drinks in me and a pretty good buzz going.
I stood up in the middle of the song, took a cigarette, and decided I was going to play a little basketball.
I aimed for that goldfish bowl and took a jump shot.
That cigarette soared through the air on a high arch…
and landed right in the bowl. 😂
The lead guy happened to see me do it, and he stopped singing and playing right in the middle of the song.
It just blew him away.
He looked over at me and says
“Bro, that was unbelievable!”
Haha
Then he picked right back up and finished the song.

Now that is one heck of a story! 😂 What are the odds of making a perfect 20-foot “basket” with a cigarette, right in the middle of Sweet Caroline?
I can almost picture the singer stopping mid-song and thinking, “Did that really just happen?” 😎 Sometimes the most spontaneous moments become the best memories—and this one certainly deserves a place in the highlight reel!
