Ban Them All…

If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

Words are overrated…
so misused…

I say ban them all…

just to piss off
folks that talk out their necks…

the ones
that love to play with them—

trying to impress…
without ever feeling
a thing…

anyone caught using them
must clean truck stop restrooms
while eating tacos…
for an entire day…

I think I’ve said too much…
I haven’t said enough… 🤌

    I love the irony here using words so powerfully while declaring them overrated. That tension is what makes this piece breathe. It’s not really about banning vocabulary; it feels like a protest against emptiness… against language that performs but never feels.

    The line about “trying to impress… without ever feeling a thing” lands hard. That’s the real target, isn’t it? Not words but disconnection. Not speech but speech without soul.

    And that closing turn
    “I think I’ve said too much…
    I haven’t said enough…”
    That’s the quiet truth of every honest writer.

    If I had to ban a word? Maybe “fine.”
    Because it hides everything that actually needs to be said.

    But then again… maybe words aren’t overrated.
    Maybe sincerity is underrated.

    1. You absolutely nailed it bro! 😁 I was being semi facetious… and of course I love words… but I do like to keep them at a minimum. with feeling. that’s just me. but yes.. was definitely aimed toward the heart behind them… great comment! Thank you

  8. 😁 It’s hilarious, but undeniably true. Anyone using words that they don’t mean.
    Look, the truth is that if the intelligent and genuine ones keep being quiet, the wicked and foolish ones will keep ruling. If the most talented ones keep having fear, the bold but unintelligent will keep having more opportunities to do all the same. If you are a bystander to a crime and you say nothing, you’re worse than the one who committed the crime.
